Every year the AAS brings volunteers to Washington, DC to advocate for their science and the priorities of the astronomical science community with members of Congress. CVD is an opportunity for AAS members to learn more about the federal government, the policy making process, and how to best influence policy makers.

The White House issued a notice of immediate termination to all members of the National Science Board (NSB). The Board’s design, a 25-member panel serving 6-year terms on a rotating basis, was made wiith intention – to ensure continuity of oversight and to prevent a wholesale takeover by any Administration.

The Biophysical Society is calling upon Congress to reverse the termination order and allow the NSB to resume its duties and operate as intended. BPS is also calling on you to advance that message with your Representative and Senators. Take action with this form.

The FY2027 President’s Budget Request (PBR) was released on 3 April, and it once again proposes major cuts to our science agencies. We need your help once more to ensure that Congress takes swift and decisive action in rejecting the FY2027 PBR. Every voice makes a difference.
